There are several topics of interest in the lab, not limited to:
- the evolution of novel function in bacteria
- behaviour on the level of the single cell, including plasticity, memory, and signal sensitivity
- the development of novel antibacterials, especially antimicrobial peptides, and the evolution of resistance and persistence
We primarily focus on transcription but that is not at all exclusive, and we use a wide range of experimental methods (flow cytometry, genomic sequencing and RNA-seq, proteomics, microfluidics, and live-cell imaging) and theoretical approaches to investigate transcriptional or other cellular processes.
The projects page highlights some projects in more detail.
I am actively searching for PhD and Masters students interested in any of these topics.
